final music video

This music video was one of the first major projects my group and I created together from start to finish. Throughout the process, we learned so much about filming, planning, editing, and communicating as a team. Looking back, there are things we would approach differently now, but that just shows how much we’ve grown through the experience. I’m proud of what we created because it represents the effort, creativity, and teamwork we put in at that time. This project reminded me that every production helps us improve and shapes us into stronger creators.

Editing Blog: The Rest of the Editing Process

The rest of the editing process felt more detailed and intentional than the first day. Once the clips were arranged, the focus shifted toward refining the overall flow of the video. Each scene needed to match the beat, the mood, and the emotion of the song. My main responsibility during this stage stayed the same: gathering all the lyrics and making sure they appeared at the correct moment. The lyrics helped guide the timing, but they weren’t final. Having them on the screen made the video look a little cheap and choppy, so removing them later is still a serious possibility. Choosing transitions became the other major part of my role. Every transition needed to fit smoothly between scenes and match the rhythm of the music. Some moments required sharp cuts to keep the energy strong. Other scenes needed smoother or slower transitions to maintain a calm flow. Picking the right transitions took time because each choice affected the entire feeling of the next scene. As the editing continued...

Laying the Foundation: First Steps in Editing the Music Video

Image
Editing for the music video officially began today. The first task involved transferring all the clips from the camera onto the phone. That step was handled personally to ensure every file moved correctly. Watching the footage appear on the device created a sense of progress. The project finally felt ready to move into the editing phase. CapCut was downloaded and opened to begin arranging the clips. Importing the footage into the timeline made the video start to feel real. Seeing the raw shots in order gave a sense of anticipation. Some creative decisions required personal judgment. Certain clips originally intended for the beginning looked better toward the end. Other clips unexpectedly fit in earlier sections. Adjusting the sequence helped the video flow more naturally. Adding the music was another task handled personally. The song was screen-recorded and imported into CapCut. Syncing the audio with the visuals required careful attention. Once the music aligned with the footage, t...

Swinging Scenes

Image
December 1st focused on capturing emotional and storytelling shots for the music video. The first scene involved a character walking into the frame while another reaches out but misses. Timing was filmed carefully to make the moment feel dramatic, and multiple takes ensured it appeared natural. A close-up of a character checking a phone was recorded next. Camera angles were adjusted to clearly capture frustration and emotion on the face. The scene with handwritten letters followed. Writing, pausing, and crumpling the paper was filmed several times to achieve realistic motion. A series of memory-based clips intended for the flashback sections of the video were then captured. Framing was prioritized to highlight emotion without relying on dialogue. Between scenes, footage was reviewed to determine which takes were strongest and which might need re-shooting. Lighting adjustments were made to match the atmosphere of each scene. Softer lighting enhanced tender or emotional moments, while st...
