Pitch 1: Our first idea was to create a music video for “Letter Home” by Childish Gambino. We thought it would be interesting to film because the song has a personal and emotional tone, which we could match with storytelling scenes. We imagined including moments that show connection, reflection, or letters being written and read. We also considered using visuals like warm lighting or intimate spaces to create a personal feel. This idea felt meaningful because it allows us to explore emotions and create a story that viewers can relate to. It also gives us the chance to practice filming, editing, and using creative camera angles. Pitch 2: Our second idea was to create a music video for “2 Seater” by Tyler, the Creator. This song has a more upbeat and dynamic vibe, which could translate well into a visually engaging video. We imagined filming scenes with movement, different locations, and creative shots that match the rhythm of the music. This idea interested us because it combines creat...

group blog

caption: crew minus Ethan Hello everyone! For this project, I am working in a group to create a music video. Last time, for the commercial project, I completed everything on my own. Working alone allowed me to fully follow my own ideas and challenge my independence. I had complete control over the project, from brainstorming to filming to editing. It gave me the freedom to make decisions without needing approval from anyone else. While working alone was valuable, it also meant I had to solve all the problems on my own. There were moments when I wished I could get a second opinion or share the workload with someone else. That experience taught me a lot about responsibility, time management, and self-discipline. I also learned how to trust my own instincts and push through challenges independently. Completing the commercial project by myself gave me a strong sense of accomplishment. This time, I decided to work in a group for the music video. I wanted to experience collaboration and see...

Hello! My name is Keisha Thervil, and I am a sophomore at Fort Lauderdale High School. I live in sunny Florida, where the warm weather feels like a part of everyday life. Most days come with sunshine and heat, something I have gotten used to over the years. Outside of school, I love trying new things and picking up hobbies that challenge me. I enjoy traveling whenever I can, even though I have not been to many places yet. Reading has always been one of my favorite activities because it allows me to step into different worlds and learn from stories in a personal way. Growing up, I never really knew what I wanted to be. When people asked me the big question, “What do you want to do in the future?” I usually came up with a quick answer, but the truth was I was not sure. For a while, I leaned toward law because I liked the idea of helping people, and it seemed like a steady path. But deep down, I never felt fully confident in that choice. Over time, I realized it is okay not to have everyt...

Creative Critical Reflection Questions

The story behind the shot..  1. How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues? My product follows a lot of the same conventions as faith-based or inspirational commercials but also challenges what people usually expect from a student advertisement. Most ads made by students focus on school, sports, or material things, but mine centers on the Bible and personal growth. I used soft lighting, close-up shots, and slow pacing to make the tone calm and reflective. That matches the kind of peaceful and uplifting feeling found in a lot of Christian media. I also challenged the norm by keeping it quiet and emotional instead of loud or dramatic. The commercial represents Christian students who are trying to find peace and balance during stressful times. It shows how faith can be a real source of strength, peace, and confidence. My audience is mainly students and young adults who want encouragement or spiritual inspiration. I wanted it t...

final comercial

Image
This was my very first commercial project that I created and produced on my own. Looking back, there are definitely things I could improve or do differently now, but that just shows how much I’ve grown through the process. Even so, I’m proud of this project because it reflects my creativity and effort at the time. It also reminds me that every project is a step toward getting better.

Behind the Scenes: From Setbacks to Success

Creating my Bible commercial came with several unexpected challenges. I wasn’t in class when the assignment was first given, so I was a little behind at the beginning. This meant I had to quickly catch up on the plan, storyboard, and instructions while keeping up with my classmates. At first, I felt stressed about falling behind, but I made a schedule to get organized and started working on the project right away. Another challenge was that my friend, who was supposed to help me film, didn’t respond. This meant I had to do everything on my own. At first, I felt frustrated and unsure if I could manage by myself. I overcame this by reorganizing my plan and setting up a filming space at home, using props and furniture to make it work. Location was also an issue. I had planned to film in the library, but it was closed when I arrived. This forced me to quickly adapt and use my living space instead. I experimented with angles, lighting, and setup until it looked clear and professional. ...
